Russian Blue History

For those of you interested in the history of the Russian Blue, I have added some further information on this subject.  Harrison Weir's book, Our Cats, is the first published description of the different breeds of cats known in 1889.  Mr. Weir is also responsible for putting on the first cat show in the Crystal Palace, England in 1875.  Click on the book at right to link to the chapter on "The Blue Cat (Archangel Cats.)

Amy's Two Boys

artAmy's two handsome little boy kittens are now 2 1/2 weeks old.  I "borrowed" the kittens to take this photos with loud disapproval from their mother.  It is difficult to get pictures of these little guys as Amy has them sequestered in the back of our walk-in closet.  She had her last litter in exactly the same spot and shows no interest in moving them.  As a result, my wardrobe has been limited to a few items near the front of the closet.

These two little guys did enjoy exploring but always came back to be together.  We have named them William and Harry.

Summer Shows

This has been an incredibly busy summer for the cats at Mishablu Cattery.  Mary and Han have been to a lot of shows and racked up quite a few points.  Mary takes shows in stride, with her elegant manners while Han loves the attention.  When we first get to the show hall, he complains incessantly until I carry him around the entire hall so he can look at everything.

readingEver the comedian, Han made the well known feline photographer, Chanan, laugh while he was taking pictures of the little guy.  Han fell off the table several times in his exuberant attempt to capture the toys that are used to hold a cat's attention.  However, he jumped right back up, ready for more play and more photos.  This photo does a great job of expressing Han's personality - always considering his next great escapade!

Roberta and Robinson Move to the Windy City

moviesThese two buddies (half sister and brother) were adopted together and are very happily tearing up the beautiful condo they now call home.  They have always loved to run around in tandem looking for potential trouble.  Their new owners have dubbed them "velociraptors" as a result!
